The General Avalanche Hazard at the Upper elevations is MODERATE where snow and wind over the past week have formed slabs up to two feet in depth. Pockets of these slabs could be triggered by backcountry travelers today in steep terrain where the new snow is underlain by a hard crust. Avalanches are not likely at Mid and Low elevations where snow depths are shallow.

Mostly clear skies with mountain temperatures at or above freezing. Winds along the ridgecrests will be light out of the west.The General Avalanche Hazard at high elevations is expected to remain MODERATE. Isolated pockets of slab to eighteen inches could be triggered in steep terrain underlain by the old, slick snow crust. In areas without the crust, avalanches are unlikely as the newer snow lies directly on the ground.
