Avalanche Summary

A Special Avalanche Advisory is in effect from  4:30 PM Wednesday until 4:30 PM Sunday. You can trigger a large dangerous avalanche. Avoid travel on and under slopes steeper than about 30 degrees. You can trigger avalanches from a distance or from below.

The most avalanche activity reported so far is on northerly and easterly facing slopes. These aspects are the most dangerous. Current avalanche conditions in the San Juan Mountains require conservative decision-making and a wide margin of safety.
