Highlights
The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE today. Strong southwest winds and new snow during the past several days have formed DANGEROUS wind slabs on steep wind loaded slopes and gullies. Numerous wind slab avalanches have been triggered and several close calls have occured. Self rescue skills and equipment are essential today for safe travel in avalanche prone terrain. High marking riders should be especially aware as steep slopes may release even after they have been crossed by numerous other riders.
