Regions: Glacier.

Avalanche conditions are touchy these days. Yesterday saw several skier triggered avalanches and conditions will likely remain as sensitive. It would be wise to remain on gentler terrain.

Avalanche Problems

Storm Slabs

15cm of snow brings the load on our weak layers to around 70cm. Skiers triggered several avalanches yesterday on this layer. Warmer temps and more snow today, we can expect stiffer slab properties which means a greater consequence of getting caught.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: All elevations.

Likelihood: Likely

Expected Size: 1 - 3

Wind Slabs

Winds in the moderate range were enough to create soft slabs overtop sun crust and surface hoar layers. Use extra caution when nearing ridge crests where these wind slabs are most likely.

Aspects: North, North East, East, South East, South.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood: Likely

Expected Size: 1 - 3
