Avalanche Problems

Storm Slabs

Up to a meter of storm snow and strong southerly winds have buried a touchy surface hoar layer. This layer is very reactive to skier traffic. Natural avalanches have been running long distances, reaching valley bottom and across skiers uptracks.

Wind Slabs

Continued snowfall overnight under the influence of steady strong southerly winds at ridgetop are loading snow onto lee slopes. Expect wind slabs on northerly aspects treeline to alpine. Natural avalanches are possible and may step down deeper.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood: Possible
