Eastside Region
Avalanche danger
Highlights
Avalanches remain unlikely on a regional scale. Monitor for isolated instabilities in extreme terrain. Variable surfaces and generally shallow coverage remain the greatest hazards in the backcountry.
Avalanche Discussion
Generally stable conditions persist across the region. Monitor for isolated instabilities in extreme terrain where even a relatively benign avalanche could have elevated consequences. The focus for backcountry travelers remains on a generally shallow snowpack and a variety of challenging surface conditions. Obstacles like fallen trees, exposed and shallowly buried rocks, bushes, and large areas of dry ground are common across the forecast area. Hard and slick surfaces are common in exposed areas near and above treeline. Specialized tools like boot and/or ski crampons and an ice ax may be necessary depending on where you wish to travel today.
