The wind slabs represent the main danger. Caution is to be exercised in particular on steep east facing slopes.

In some regions 40 to 70 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Sunday above approximately 2000 m. The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow. This applies in particular on near-ridge east facing slopes. The old snowpack is well consolidated. In some cases the wind slabs have bonded poorly with the old snowpack. Above approximately 2100 m a lot of snow is lying.

In the last few days sometimes large wind slabs formed especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls as well as at high altitude. These can be released by a single winter sport participant. As a consequence of solar radiation more dry and moist avalanches are possible as the day progresses, but they can reach medium size. This applies in particular in steep rocky terrain. Careful route selection and spacing between individuals are recommended.
