Forecast Snow Stability: The old snowpack which mainly exists in the higher North and East facing corries will generally remain well bonded and stable with a firm surface. Snow showers will form isolated areas of unstable windslab, mainly around the tops of summit gullies and steep, scarp slopes with an East to South-East aspect. With only very light new snow expected these areas should be shallow and generally avoidable. Fragile cornices may exist in some of these areas. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It will remain cold, freezing at all levels throughout the period. Isolated and very light snow showers will continue to affect the area. Winds will be fresh Northerly overnight, North-Westerly by day. Observed Weather Influences: A cold North-West to Northerly airflow with light snow showers is affecting the area. The freezing level is around 700 metres. ObservedSnowStability: A light cover of fresh snow exists above 700 metres giving a more wintry appearance. The old snowpack is mainly in the higher North and East facing corries. It is generally well bonded, stable and firm with some softening at lower levels during the day. New snow has formed isolated accumulations of unstable windslab in gully exits and on steeper scarp slopes with a mainly North-East to South-East aspect: These areas are generally avoidable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
