Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh unconsolidated snow will be present on all aspects to all levels, much of it lying on bare ground. Where it has gained greatest accumulations, moderately bonded windslab will be present primarily on South-East to South-West aspects above 800 metres. Areas most affected will be coire rims, gully tops and other steep wind sheltered locations. Cornices will be fragile. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: There will be early evening scattered snow showers on moderate Northerly winds which will ease to leave a dry and sunny day. Winds will veer to the North-East and become light with the freezing level rising to 200 metres around noon.
Observed Weather Influences: A day of sunshine and snow showers. These were heavy and persistent at times. Moderate Northerly winds and freezing at all levels.
ObservedSnowStability: Fresh, unconsolidated snow is present on all aspects at all levels. This is mainly lying on bare ground or on the remaining old stable snow patches. Drifting snow has led to new windslab developing. Where this has gained sufficient depth, moderately bonded windslab is present on South-East to South-West aspects above 800 metres. Areas most affected are coire rims, gully tops, and other steep wind sheltered locations. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
