Avalanche Activity

The new snow and wind slabs of Sunday must be evaluated with care and prudence.

The avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular on extremely steep shady slopes and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. Winter sport participants can release avalanches in isolated cases. The fresh wind slabs are mostly small but to be assessed with care and prudence.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations above the tree line. In very isolated cases weak layers exist in the centre of the snowpack, especially on shady slopes above approximately 2200 m, and on sunny slopes at elevated altitudes. At low and intermediate altitudes less snow than usual is lying.

Tendency

In some localities in some regions up to 15 cm of snow will fall above approximately 1500 m. The avalanche danger will increase during the day.
