Forecast Snow Stability: The snow will be generally well bonded in all locations. Above 900 metres old snow will be very hard and icy on North to East aspects with isolated soft shallow deposits on South-East to South-West aspects. Exposed ground will have a covering of surface ice. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: Another cloudy and cold day is forecast. Freezing levels are expected to remain sub-summit with ice underfoot within the cloud. A fresh breeze throughout the day from the North-North-East. Observed Weather Influences: A cold damp day with thick hill cloud above 700 metres. Icy underfoot above this level. Winds were fresh from the North-West. ObservedSnowStability: Patchy, very hard snow mainly on North to East aspects above 900 metres with pillows of softer snow on South-East to South-West aspects. A covering of thin ice is also found across most aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
