Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh unstable windslab will continue to develop. Greatest accumulations will be on West through North to East aspects above 900 metres. Fragile cornices will form above these aspects. The older snowpack will remain generally stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Showers throughout the period falling as snow above around 600 metres. Fresh to strong winds, Southerly initially, slowly veering to become Westerly in the afternoon. The freezing level will vary between 600 and 900 metres. Observed Weather Influences: After overnight showers falling as snow above around 900 metres it was a dry day with gale force South-Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Localised areas of poorly bonded windslab are present, mainly in wind sheltered gullies, on West through North to East aspects above 900 metres. The older snowpack is generally stable. Debris from minor sloughs noted on a West aspect at 1050 metres. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
