Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of fresh unstable windslab will develop through the period mainly on North-West through North to East aspects above 700 metres. Fragile cornices will start to develop above these aspects. Slopes exposed to the wind will remain generally stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Moderate to strong South-South-West winds and showers falling as snow above around 400 metres throughout the period. The freezing level will be around 500 metres. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry, cold morning with light to moderate strength South-Westerly winds. There were snow showers in the afternoon. The freezing level rose to around 700 metres. ObservedSnowStability: There is a light general cover of fresh soft snow at all elevations. During the afternoon localised areas of generally shallow windslab started to develop mainly on North to East aspects above around 900 metres. Localised areas of old firm snow also persist mainly above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
