As a consequence of warming the size of the avalanche prone locations will increase. Medium-sized and large dry and moist avalanches are possible. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant. This applies in particular above approximately 2500 m. In isolated cases the avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack.

10 to 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen above approximately 2500 m. The new snow is lying on soft layers in particular on shady slopes above approximately 2500 m. As a consequence of rising temperatures a precarious avalanche situation will develop. In addition avalanche prone wind slabs will form in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain as the day progresses. Individual weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in shady places that are protected from the wind, in particular at high altitude.
