Forecast Snow Stability: Where new snow amounts achieve depth, above 800 metres, new snow instabilities and areas of windslab will exist. These in steepest gully flanks and exits on North through East to South-Easterly aspects, above which, new cornice development will also occur. Elsewhere the old snowpack will be consolidated and stability will be generally good in these locations, with many wind scoured slopes and ridges. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Further blustery and wintry showers will bring scattered snow showers overnight. Thereafter it will be a mostly dry day, with the Westerly winds easing from first light. It will be cool on the tops. The freezing level will stay below summits, around 800 metres. Observed Weather Influences: It has been a mild, wet and blustery day. Temperatures after midday began to cool and by the end of the day precipitation was turning wintry again at summit levels. The winds have been strong to gale force, on the tops, mainly Westerly. ObservedSnowStability: The old snowpack remains much depleted well consolidated and stable. Some new snow instabilities and patchy windslab began to develop late in the day. Existing accumulations lie above 800m, on mostly North to Easterly aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
