Tetons
Avalanche danger
Highlights
Soft slabs to three feet in depth could be triggered by backcountry travelers venturing onto steep, wind-loaded starting zones at the mid and upper elevations. Any extended periods of sunshine will increase the possibility of wet-loose slides on sunlit aspects. The snowpack is mostly stable at the lower elevations where avalanches are unlikely.
Avalanche Discussion
The developing westerly flow will bring light snow to the region Tuesday night into Wednesday with light accumulations over the peaks. Wednesday morning lows will be in the single digits at 10,000 feet then rise to the mid twenties during the day.Weaknesses in the snowpack hold the possibility of user triggered slabs one to three feet in depth on steep, upper elevation avalanche prone terrain. Any periods of sunshine will raise the potential for point slides that could grow to significant size.
