Very strong southwest winds overnight stripped snow from windward slopes and created firm slabs to a foot in depth on steep, lee aspects at upper elevations. The slabs rest on sun crusts and loose graupel and may be triggered by backcountry travelers on avalanche prone terrain near ridge crests and under rock bands where deeper snow has accumulated. Rapidly warming temperatures will increase the chance of wet-loose slides on sunny slopes.

A dry and warmer day is expected although a weak disturbance to the North may provide some clouds to the area. Mountain temperatures are to rise to near forty degrees. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low on Thursday. Isolated pockets of wind slab could be triggered with depths to a foot in steep high elevation terrain in cliff areas and wet loose slides may become possible at lower elevations as warming occurs.
