The General Avalanche Hazard is CONSIDERABLE at the mid and upper elevations where southwest winds and heavy snowfall over the weekend formed soft slabs up to four feet in depth. New snowfall Sunday, driven by strong winds, have added to the slide potential. Dangerous soft and hard slab avalanches up to five feet in depth could be triggered today by backcountry users. At the Lower elevations the hazard is MODERATE.

The weak, upper level trough will bring flurries or light snow showers to the mountains overnight Monday. Tuesday afternoon a trough will bring widespread snowfall to the area. Temperatures will rise to the mid teens and ridge top winds will be southwesterly at 20 to 25 miles per hour.Surface slabs eighteen inches deep and older slabs to 4 feet in depth could be triggered in steep terrain. Larger triggers like multiple people traversing a slope or highmarking snowmobiles may be necessary to start slides. The general avalanche hazard is forecasted to be Moderate Tuesday.
