Strong winds are drifting snow onto a weak snowpack and are creating dangerous avalanche conditions. You can trigger avalanches on northerly and east-facing slopes near and above treeline. Avalanches can break deeper and wider than you expect, making them difficult to escape. You can trigger avalanches from the bottom of slopes or a great distance away. Shooting cracks and audible collapses are signs you need to move to lower-angle terrain or wind-sheltered slopes. As heavy snow continues Sunday, the avalanche danger will increase rapidly. Travel in avalanche terrain Monday is not recommended.
