Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche if you find wind-drifted snow resting on a steep slope at upper elevations. The storm came in with mostly calm winds, but near and above treeline, you might still encounter some dangerous, wind-loaded slopes. If you notice a hard, hollow feeling in the snow or see cracking in the snow around you, avoid traveling on nearby slopes steeper than about 35 degrees.
