At the mid and upper elevations, backcountry travelers could trigger pockets of recently developed surface slab one to three feet in depth on very steep, wind loaded slopes. If mostly clear skies prevail in the afternoon, the avalanche hazard will increase making these slides become more likely to fail along with a greater chance for cornice releases and loose snow sluffs. Beware of large cornices and avoid the terrain below them. Afternoon warming could also bring about the possibility of shallow wet slides at the lower elevations.

On Monday, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy with a chance for some light, scattered flurries. Overnight lows in the mountains will be near 20 rising to around freezing during the day. Ridgetop winds will back to the west at 10 to 20 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard at the higher elevations is expected to be MODERATE on Monday. Backcountry travelers could trigger pockets of soft slab one to three feet deep in very steep, wind loaded avalanche terrain. On sunlit aspects, any prolonged breaks in cloud cover will make these slides more susceptible to failure along with increasing the chance of cornice collapses and loose snow sluffs.
