Avalanche Summary
An Avalanche Watch is in effect for the Park Range, Rabbit Ears Pass, and the Flat Tops. Very dangerous avalanche conditions develop by midday Saturday and continue through Sunday. Natural and human-triggered avalanches are very likely. You may see avalanches in low-elevation areas with continuous snow cover. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended from midday Saturday through Sunday.
Friday, new snow and wind have drifted slabs above and near treeline slopes facing northwest through north to east. Identify and avoid these areas by looking for shooting cracks in the snow surface or smooth, rounded snow bulges. These areas are often found below cornices or on the wind-sheltered side of a ridge.

Areas you may trigger an avalanche are recently drifted slopes near and above treeline that face northwest through northeast. Identify recently wind-drifted slopes by observing cracking on the snow surface or smoother, rounded pillows of snow that are often found underneath cornices on the wind-sheltered side of a ridge.
