Avalanche Summary
Steep slopes with wind-drifted snow are the most dangerous. You can trigger a small avalanche in drifted snow that grows larger as it steps down to more deeply buried weak layers. Recent westerly winds mean you will find the most drifted snow, and the most dangerous conditions, on easterly slopes. Avoid steep, open slopes below ridgetop and slopes with large overhanging cornices.
