The most problematic slopes are recently drifted slopes that sit directly below ridgetop. You can trigger avalanches that break 1 to 2 feet deep on weaker layers of snow and or crusts. Avoid these wind-drifted slopes and you greatly reduce your chance of triggering an avalanche.
