Winds have drifted snow into thick, dangerous slabs on northerly and easterly slopes. Any avalanche that you trigger on one of these drifted slopes can break widely and near the ground. Avoid steep slopes where you observe signs of wind drifting such as cornice formation and a continuous, smooth-looking snow surface,
