Avalanche Summary

If you are sinking into wet snow past your ankles, head to less consequential or colder slopes. Carefully monitor the breakdown of overnight surface crusts. Once they soften, you could trigger an avalanche. The avalanche you trigger in the wet snow may stay localized, gouge deeper, or run as a wide slab on a dust layer one to two feet deep. Whichever flavor you encounter, the advice is the same: start and end your day early to maximize your time for safe travel.
