Avalanche Summary

New snow will continue to accumulate on a patchy early-season snowpack. You can easily trigger small avalanches where you find around a foot or more of recently fallen snow resting above granular weak snow near the ground. The most dangerous slopes face north and east below ridgelines and in steep wind-drifted gullies. Soft new snow will make it harder to spot the worrisome patches of old snow, so move to lower-angle terrain where you encounter cracking or collapsing.
