Avalanche Summary

Your chance of triggering an avalanche is not high, but there are plenty of hazards to manage. Steep, wind-drifted slopes are the most likely places to trigger a smaller slide. Or they could break deeper if you find a shallow spot on a slope around rock bands or a thin spot in the slab. Near and above treeline on north to east-facing aspects are the most likely places to find this problem; however, lingering slabs may also be lurking on other slopes. The best way to reduce your risk is to avoid steep, wind-drifted slopes and stick to lower-angle terrain.
