Avalanche Summary

Wind drifting the recent snow onto old snow surfaces increases your chances of triggering avalanches above treeline. The most dangerous slopes face north, northeast, and east, where westerly winds will drift snow into thicker and stiffer slabs. Look for and avoid pillowy or lens-shaped drifts on leeward slopes below ridgelines.
