You can easily trigger a slab avalanche where recently formed slabs rest on buried weak layers 1 to 2 feet thick. Northerly and easterly-facing slopes can produce the largest avalanches. Choose terrain less steep than 35 degrees. Recognize that you can trigger a large avalanche from above, below, or adjacent to steep slopes.
