Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a slab avalanche where you encounter freshly wind-drifted snow at upper elevations. Strong southwest winds will drift snow onto northerly and easterly-facing slopes, especially below corniced ridgelines and along the sides of cross-loaded gullies. If you encounter cracking or find hollow-feeling drifts, move around these features to wind-sheltered or lower-angle slopes.
