Avalanche Summary
If you were to trigger a small avalanche, it would be in an area of stiff snow over weak snow or on a steep slope with a cohesionless snowpack. Avoid snow that feels stiff, sounds hollow, cracks underneath you, and steep slopes where you sink to the ground. Identify and avoid firm snow on open slopes, and prepare for loose avalanches on steep, shady slopes.
