Avalanche Summary

You could trigger an avalanche on weak layers buried 1 to 3 feet deep. You probably won't get warning signs before you do. You can more easily trigger a slide on slopes with exposed trigger points, like rocks, bushes, and small trees. You can ride a slope multiple times before it slides. Evaluate the snow carefully and give features of concern a wide berth.

You can find safer travel on slopes with a consistent, deep snowpack and no trigger points such as shallowly buried rocks.
