Generally stable avalanche conditions exist. Hard and slick surfaces will soften as the sun comes out and temperatures begin to rise. Monitor surface warming today and be on the lookout for isolated instabilities.  

Spring-like conditions have taken a toll on the snowpack across the region. Snow lines have risen dramatically over the last week, and we have settled into a diurnal melt-freeze cycle.  On a regional scale, avalanche activity remains unlikely.  While we expect surfaces to soften as the sun comes out, gusty winds out of the southwest could limit the extent of surface warming today, particularly at higher elevations.  Monitor warming throughout the day and be prepared to move to more shaded aspects if you start sinking deeply into wet surface snow. Keep in mind that areas with shallow coverage or areas near rock outcroppings and cliff bands will warm more quickly, and may be the areas of greatest concern.

While it remains prudent to monitor for isolated instabilities, these spring-like conditions bring with them spring-like opportunities. Access has become more challenging over the last week, and navigating approaches at lower elevations may require some dry-land travel. However, coverage and surface conditions improve as you gain elevation, and field reports continue to highlight generally pleasant conditions for skiing and riding.
