Avalanche Activity

Increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day.

Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released especially by large additional loads at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. Caution is to be exercised in particular at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, and on very steep slopes at intermediate and high altitudes. In particular at low and intermediate altitudes and on sunny slopes more small and medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation.

Snowpack Structure

Monday: In some localities up to 10 cm of snow has fallen above approximately 1600 m. In particular low and intermediate altitudes: The surface of the snowpack is frozen, but not to a significant depth and will soften during the day. In the morning, There is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. In shady places that are protected from the wind intermediate and high altitudes: Towards its surface, the snowpack is dry; its surface consists of loosely bonded snow.
