Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs above approximately 1000 m.

The sometimes strong wind has transported some snow. Over a wide area wind slabs formed. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on wind-loaded slopes of all aspects above approximately 1000 m and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. Slab avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of the moderate to strong northeasterly wind, fresh snow drift accumulations formed on Wednesday. The wind slabs are poorly bonded with the old snowpack. They are to be assessed with care and prudence.
