As a consequence of new snow and wind from southerly directions, soft wind slabs formed in the last two days. Single winter sport participants can release avalanches in some places, including medium-sized ones. Mostly they are shallow, caution is to be exercised in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls, and on very steep slopes in particular above the tree line. The avalanche prone locations are covered with new snow. The fresh snow and especially the wind-blown snow drifts, both soft and hard, cover a thin layer of old snow. On very steep shady slopes the avalanches can be triggered in deep layers of the snowpack and reach quite a large size. Slopes that have been little used this winter thus far are especially unfavourable. Maintaining distances between individuals is recommended. Evening and night: As a consequence of new snow and wind the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase.
Tuesday: 5 to 15 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen above approximately 2000 m. Wednesday: 5 to 10 cm of snow, but less in some localities, has fallen above approximately 1500 m. The new snow and wind slabs are lying on soft layers in particular on wind-protected shady slopes. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on west, north and east facing slopes. Several small and medium-sized slab avalanches have been released in the last few days. On Friday on steep slopes small and medium-sized avalanches occurred naturally.
Above approximately 900 m snow will fall. As a consequence of new snow and a moderate southeasterly wind, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs will form in particular in the regions exposed to precipitation. The danger of dry avalanches will already increase in the late morning.
