During the first half of the night as the snowfall level rises there will be an appreciable increase in the avalanche danger to level 3 (considerable). Individual natural avalanches are possible during the course of the night, in particular medium-sized ones. Single winter sport participants can release avalanches easily. This applies in particular on steep west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2000 m. As a consequence of the rain more frequent gliding avalanches and snow slides are possible, but they will be mostly small.
Up to 2500 m rain will fall until late morning in some regions. The snowpack will become weakly bonded over a wide area. Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the old snowpack. This applies especially on west, north and east facing slopes at elevated altitudes, in particular in shady places that are protected from the wind. The fresh and older wind slabs are lying on surface hoar in some places on shady slopes.
