The wind slabs of the last few days represent the main danger. The weather will be mild over a wide area.
The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations over a wide area. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls above the tree line. The wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, in all aspects at elevated altitudes. As a consequence of warming during the day, the likelihood of natural moist avalanches being released will increase gradually in particular on steep sunny slopes at intermediate and high altitudes.
The wind slabs are lying on weak layers. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. The solar radiation will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack.
Over a wide area further warming to the high Alpine regions.
