Forecast Snow Stability: Initially the remaining snow will continue to thaw, consolidate and will be generally stable in all locations. During the afternoon, as the freezing level drops, isolated pockets of unstable windslab will develop, primarily where overlying the old snow on North-East to South-East aspects above 1000 metres. Areas most affected will be coire rims and gully tops. Elsewhere the new snow will fall mainly on bare ground. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will rise to above the summits overnight, before dropping through the afternoon to around 800 metres. Rain is expected during the night, with snowfall above 800 metres later in the afternoon. Storm force West-South-Westerly winds will veer West during the day, and decrease to become gale force by the end of the forecasting period. Observed Weather Influences: A wet and mild day with very strong West-South-West winds. The midday summit temperature was 2.6 degrees celsius. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining snow continues to thaw, consolidate and be generally stable in all locations. The patchy snow cover is mainly on North-East through East to South aspects above 1000 metres. Elsewhere the ground is mostly bare. The avalanche hazard is Low.
