Forecast Snow Stability: The remaining snowpack will be well bonded and generally stable throughout. Localised and mostly shallow accumulations of windslab will be encountered in wind sheltered locations on West through North to North-East aspects above 1000 metres. These fresh accumulations are not expected to become significant. Deposits will continue to thaw at lower elevations with best cover found above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Light precipitation during the evening falling as sleet at 900 metres and wet snow above 1100 metres, will ease to give a mostly dry night. Light snowfall above 850 metres at daybreak will gradually turn to sleet, with wet snow becoming confined to the highest summits only as the 850 metre freezing level rises up to 1150 metres. Gale force South-South-Easterly winds overnight, veering as they ease to strong South-Westerly by late afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Precipitation throughout the morning with wet snowfall above 800 metres, becoming drier during the afternoon. Gale force South-Easterly winds. Freezing level around 1050 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The wet snowpack continues to thaw rapidly at lower elevations but remains generally stable. Isolated, shallow accumulations of windslab are forming in very wind sheltered locations on West to North aspects above 1000 metres. Cover is patchy at lower elevations with largest areas encountered above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
