Individual avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular in extremely steep terrain above approximately 2600 m. In very isolated cases avalanches can be released in deep layers. These avalanche prone locations are very rare but are barely recognisable. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in particular in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. As the day progresses as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation there will be only a slight increase in the danger of wet and gliding avalanches. Small and medium-sized natural avalanches are possible. This applies in particular on steep east and west facing slopes below approximately 2800 m, as well as on north facing slopes below approximately 2400 m. Backcountry tours should be concluded timely.

South-facing slopes are thoroughly wet far up into high alpine regions; west-facing and east-facing slopes are wet below approximately 3000 m; north-facing slopes below approximately 2400 m. As a consequence of clear nighttime skies and low temperatures, the snowpack surface is able to form a melt-freeze crust which over widespread areas is capable of bearings loads. This stabilises the snowpack. During the course of the day, the crust subsequently softens and thaws and the danger of wet-snow avalanches increases somewhat. Isolated danger zones for dry-snow avalanches are to be found on very steep north-facing slopes above approximately 2600 m more than anywhere else.

Following a night of clear skies it was sunny in the mountains during the daytime. Fresh snow: - Temperature: At midday at 2000 m, between +5 °C in the Valais and +1 °C in the eastern regions. Wind: Winds were blowing at moderate strength, at strong velocity in some high altitude places, from northeasterly directions. Following a night of clear skies it is expected to be predominantly sunny during the daytime. In the afternoon, convective cloud build-up is possible. Fresh snow: - Temperature: At midday at 2000 m, between +4 °C in the Valais and in the southern regions and +2 °C in the eastern regions. Wind: Winds at high altitudes will be blowing at moderate strength from northerly to northeasterly directions.

On Tuesday it will be predominantly sunny, following a night of clear skies. As a consequence of moderate northerly winds it will be cool. On Wednesday it is expected to be only partly sunny, during the afternoon showers are possible in the western regions. The avalanche situation is generally favourable during early morning hours. As a result of solar radiation and daytime warming the danger of wet-snow avalanches then increases somewhat during the course of each day. Backcountry tours and ascents to mountain refuges should be brought to an end early in the day. Isolated danger zones for dry-snow avalanches are to be found on very steep north-facing slopes above approximately 2600 m more than anywhere else.
