The avalanche danger varies significantly across the region and depends largely on local overnight temperatures. Where there has been no overnight freeze due to cloud cover, and mild temperatures extend high into the mountains, the avalanche danger will already be elevated in the morning. The combination of wet snow and strong sunshine further weakens the snowpack.
Wet loose avalanches are the most widespread avalanche problem, particularly in very steep, sun‑exposed terrain and below areas with exposed rock or cliffs. Most avalanches will be small, but medium‑sized avalanches may also occur. Remember that even small wet loose avalanches can be dangerous in steep and exposed terrain, as they consist of heavy, wet snow.
Be aware that wet slab avalanches and/or glide avalanches may also occur where meltwater accumulates on old crust layers deeper in the snowpack or in areas with smooth bedrock.

Skredfaren styres i stor grad av de lokale temperaturforholdene. Dersom det kommer nattefrost, kan snødekket få en kortvarig stabilisering, og skredfaren vil mange steder kunne oppleves som lav, spesielt tidlig på dagen. Når mildværet og sola får tak svekkes snødekket likevel raskt, og skredfaren øker tilsvarende.
Våte løssnøskred er det mest utbredte skredproblemet, særlig i svært bratt, solvendt terreng og under områder med bar stein/klipper. De fleste skredene vil være små, men middels store skred kan også forekomme. Husk også at selv små våte skred kan være farlige i bratt og eksponert terreng, ettersom de består av tunge snømasser.
Vær også oppmerksom på at enkelte våte flakskred og/eller glideskred kan forekomme der smeltevann samler seg på gamle skarelag dypere i snødekket eller på områder med svaberg.
Snøoverflaten har et tydelig vårlig preg, og det har vært kraftig smelting den siste tiden. Sammenhengende snø finnes fra omtrent 300–500 moh og oppover, avhengig av hvor i regionen du befinner deg, med mest snø i nordvendt terreng og i indre strøk. Snødekket er i hovedsak smelteomvandlet. Likevel kan det fortsatt finnes noe lagdeling igjen i skyggesider og på de høyeste toppene.
In many areas, the snowpack is melt‑transformed, coarse‑grained, and drains water well. However, wet avalanches may still release naturally in exposed terrain, especially if the mild temperatures become more pronounced than expected. Wet loose avalanches are the most likely problem. Most are expected to be small, but medium‑sized avalanches may occur.
At higher elevations, layering in the snowpack is still present. If mild temperatures reach these elevations, meltwater can penetrate downward and weaken the layers, potentially producing wet slab avalanches. These avalanches are difficult to forecast and can be larger than typical loose‑snow avalanches. Glide avalanches may also occur where water accumulates above smooth bed surfaces such as rock slabs.
