The small wind slabs represent the main danger.
The small wind slabs represent the main danger.
The wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, on steep shady slopes at high altitude. Especially in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and at the base of rock walls mostly small avalanches are possible.
Wind slabs are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility. The avalanche prone locations are rather rare. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust.
The wind will be strong. The weather will be cold.
