Avalanche Activity

Wet and gliding snow require caution.

As the moisture increases individual small moist and wet avalanches are possible. The avalanche prone locations for moist avalanches are to be found especially on very steep northwest, north and northeast facing slopes above approximately 1800 m.

Snowpack Structure

The old snowpack remains subject to considerable local variations. The older wind slabs are to be found especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally in the high Alpine regions. They are to be found in particular on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes. The snowpack is well consolidated. The surface of the snowpack will only just freeze and will soften during the day. The rain will give rise as the day progresses to gradual moistening of the old snowpack over a wide area.
