Forecast Snow Stability: The wet patchy snowpack will become firmer during the morning. New snowfall will be limited, with some isolated and mostly avoidable accumulations of shallow windslab forming on North to East aspects above 800 metres. Slopes exposed to the strong winds will be scoured and very firm. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: Precipitation falling as rain overnight, will turn to snow around dawn as the freezing level lowers to around 800 metres. Southerly winds overnight will strengthen to become gale force South-Westerlies by early morning. Observed Weather Influences: A mainly dry, mild day with the freezing level above the summits. Winds were moderate from the South-West. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy soft snow continues to consolidate. Greatest amounts of snow are present above 900 metres, particularly around the main tops of the Cairngorms. The avalanche hazard is Low.
