Avalanche Activity

On very steep sunny slopes the likelihood of avalanches being released is greater.

As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation more ground avalanches are possible as the day progresses, but they will be mostly small. In addition there is a danger of moist loose snow avalanches. Gliding avalanches can be released at any time of day or night.

Snowpack Structure

In areas where the snow cover is rather shallow and on very steep sunny slopes thus far only a little snow is lying. On very steep sunny slopes and adjacent to ridgelines the likelihood of gliding avalanches will increase during the day.
