Avalanche Activity

Weak layers in the old snowpack necessitate caution. There is a danger of falling on the icy crust.

Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in very isolated cases adjacent to ridgelines. The avalanche prone locations are clearly recognisable to the trained eye.

Snowpack Structure

The old snowpack will be in most cases subject to considerable local variations. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted. This applies in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 1900 m. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the icy crust.

Tendency

As a consequence of the new snow the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent from the early morning.
