Avalanche Activity

Over a wide area only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.

Here less snow than usual is lying. Over a wide area from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying. The avalanche prone locations are to be found on steep slopes at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. The Avalanche Warning Service currently has only a small amount of information that has been collected in the field, so that the avalanche danger should be investigated especially thoroughly in the relevant locality.

Snowpack Structure

The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust, in the event of a clear night in particular. The high humditiy will give rise as the day progresses to a loss of strength within the snowpack in particular at intermediate and high altitudes.
