Summary

Early Season Comment

Daily avalanche forecasts are no longer being completed.

As long as there is snow on the ground avalanche danger will persist. While lower elevations may be snow free, winter conditions will persist in the Alpine areas for some time. If you choose to travel in these areas, be sure to stack the deck in your favour by carrying the right gear, having the appropriate training and don't go alone. A little bit of pre-planning can go a long way. Research your trip prior to going and be prepared to turn around if snow if more than anticipated.

Early Season Message

The avalanche danger is variable and can range from Low to High. Travelling early in the day is recommended, as conditions can change rapidly in short periods of time due to daytime warming. Pay careful attention to the integrity of the surface crusts formed overnight and rising air temperatures during the day. Dry slab avalanche danger may also exist during spring snow storms. Field Observations for your area may be available at the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) Mountain Conditions Report Website: http://www.mountainconditions.com. Weather Forecast

Pay close attention to influx of precipitation in the form of snow and or rain. While valley floors may be clear of snow the upper elevations are still winter and avalanche danger will persist for some time. Warm sunny day will also be a concern to trigger avalanches with the intense heat.
